Japan changes to a refund method for eligible purchases made on or after November 1, 2026. Ikura Cart separates the current and new guidance by purchase date.

  • Through October 31, 2026: guidance for the current point-of-sale tax-free method
  • From November 1, 2026: pay tax included, then complete departure checks with the goods within 90 days of purchase before the refund
  • The consumables seal and ¥500,000 cap end; the ¥5,000 pre-tax minimum remains
